Red Threads

(synthetic and animal fiber yarn, dried flowers)

My work explores the universality of myth with the use of textures to elicit a sense of abstract storytelling. Using the meditative practice of weaving and playing with textural arts, I am trying to examine the archetypal implications of this medium.

Throughout my studies I have become interested in archetypal psychology, Jungian thought and the journeys of personal mythology. Merging these interests into ritualistic meaning-making and installation art, I find a transformative process mirroring that of my own Self.

Through the unifying of the individual to the collective, I am asking the question: What are the red threads we have yet to put on the loom?
