Each piece of artwork arises to answer a specific request, a wish, or a longing. Throughout my journey, I have always strived to use the materials at hand to produce art that both fills a need and creates space. This seemingly paradoxical mission is accomplished by creating works that help provide the community around me with a space for further expression: the creation of a table out of found scraps where one can work on one’s own creations; the construction of a frame which accentuates and provide structure for other art; the assembly of an easel on which visual art can flourish. I strive to create pieces that feel spacious, that give room for the observer to bring their full selves, where there is enough space for all they carry, and where they can lay some of their burdens down. I do this all while trying to recycle materials, to use found objects, to reimagine what has been discarded into a container into which new life can be poured.
